Understanding the Competency Settings

Competency Settings allow you to assign qualified Competency Managers to oversee and complete employee competency assessments. 

Assigned managers should have higher licensing or credentials than the individuals they assess to ensure evaluations are accurate and compliant.

Accessing Competency Settings

  1. Click on the Competencies drop-down on the left side of the screen.
  2. Select Settings from the dropdown.

Competency Settings Overview

The Settings page displays several competency manager categories such as:

  • Nursing
  • Clinical
  • Leadership
  • Operations
  • Medical
  • Human Resources

Each category includes a list showing which user roles/groups are managed by that category’s Competency Managers.

Assigning Competency Managers

Use the field under each manager category to assign users. Select at least two managers per section to ensure timely assessment completion and provide backup coverage.

  1. Click into the Field below one of the Competency Managers.
  2. Use the drop-down that expands to choose from available system users. Scroll through the list or begin typing the user’s name to search and select.
    • Once added, the user’s name will appear under the respective manager category (e.g., Nursing Managers).

Note: Assign at least two managers per category to ensure timely assessments and coverage if one manager is unavailable.

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save to ensure your changes are made.
  2. A green confirmation message will appear at the top of the page, indicating the updates have been applied successfully

 

FAQs

  • The system may prevent assessments from being completed or marked as complete if no qualified manager is assigned.
  • Yes, a manager can be assigned to multiple categories as long as their credentials meet the necessary requirements.
