Department Management Overview
The Department feature helps facilities ensure that department managers and supervisors can oversee their employees’ compliance, competencies, performance reviews, and training requirements.
Users with department manager permissions can review employee data and take action to support HR workflows.
Assigning Users to a Department
Use the Access Manager to manage department assignments. This section explains how to assign employees to departments.
Assigning Users
- Open the Access Manager on the left side of the page.
- Click Assign Users to Department.
- From the Department User page select Add New in the top-right corner.
- Choose the department you want to assign the user to using the Department drop-down.
- Select one or more users from the User drop-down.
- Click Save to confirm the assignment.
Note: If you attempt to add a user who is already assigned to that department, a yellow message will appear. A green message confirms a successful assignment.
Assigning Managers to a Department
Department managers can be assigned using the same workflow in Access Manager.
- Click Assign Managers to Department.
- Once the Department Managers window opens all existing Managers will be displayed. Click the + Add New button on the top right corner of the screen.
- First, use the Department drop-down to choose the department where you want to assign a manager.
- Then specify the manager(s) you would like to assign to the department in the Manager field.
- Click the Save button to confirm the manager assignment.
- This green notice will appear alone the top of the page to confirm the Manager Assignment.
Viewing and Managing Department Users
Department managers can monitor their team’s training and compliance progress from the Department Users tab on the left side of the page.
Required Permissions: Ensure that users who will perform these actions have the necessary Admin or Manager permissions assigned to their profile.
This page shows a list of employees in the department you manage, along with their compliance status and training scores.
On this page managers can access several tools to support their team:
- Click the Actions icon next to any user to open their profile.
- In the dropdown, managers can:
- View or edit the user profile
- Access the user’s training center
- View a compliance report
